Hey, folks! Just checking in to let you know Chapter 21 has been posted and there are two more chapters after this before the story concludes! The last five months have been quite a ride. I’m always grateful for visitors but the lengths people have to go through to get some attention on their website is mind-boggling. It’s tough competing against everything else in life to get eyes on the page but I plan on keeping this up as long as I can afford it, so that the right people might come across it like some cultural archeologists and get sucked into a crazy story about zombies and magic.
Although I wanted to try out the serial method to see what it was about, I believe I’ll try something else with the next story. I’ll probably just put the whole thing up at once and leave it be. Posting regularly every week kept me on the straight and narrow, admittedly, but I don’t think people want to read things piece-by-piece. They want the whole thing right there before they invest. Pure speculation but there was more to this experiment than just publishing a serial novel on my own website. There were also lessons learned in marketing and social media, using trial and error only to ultimately realize that if you’re not paying money to some platform, an artist might as well be invisible. Especially weirdos like me.
I didn’t mean for this to sound like a downer post. I’m pretty happy with everything and life in general. I just wish the hard stuff would come easier and the bad stuff find an exit. I’m getting excited to start work on my next project, The Bard of Armageddon, which takes place in the same universe as The Body Shop but a couple generations in the future, where you’ll be able to see how the events that took place in The Body Shop molded the future.
