The Body Shop Chapter 2 is Live!

Hey, everyone! Thanks for all the interest in The Body Shop and I hope readers are enjoying it so far. I realize the story is just getting started for you but I’ve been living with these characters for about four years, so forgive my overly familiar tone.

I’m publishing a little prior to midnight so I know the pages and posts are up correctly before I hit the hay. Last week, everything but one blog post went up right at midnight (as scheduled) but I didn’t know until the next morning…and then couldn’t fix it right away because of my morning routine sucking up all the time. Anyway, if you’re reading it and it’s still technically Tuesday, that’s why. I don’t think a few hours make much of a difference in a global environment. It’s not like this is a TV show.

Aside from the story, I’m learning a lot about things from this experience that I didn’t suspect, from the basics of modern web publishing to how bad my grammar really is, after running it through a couple AI editors like Grammarly and Pro Writing Aid (I’m not affiliated with either). Then there’s the matter of marketing and raising awareness to the right people at the right time, many of whom are anti-social weirdos like yours truly. I am putting a little money behind marketing but really, to get wide coverage would cost thousands that I’m not going to play around with.

BUT everything has been running smoothly so far and I look forward to bringing the story to you over the coming weeks.

That said, I still don’t have a chapter count for you. It’s hovering around 20 but I plan on revising the last two or three chapters prior to publication and any expansion may also add a chapter or two. I want to keep the chapters down to about 3,000 words at the most because many people are looking for quick reads these days while they’re in between spells of being busy. So the chapter count will likely be 4-5 months worth of reading, prior to its ultimate publication through Amazon this summer.

I think that about does it for now. If you’re enjoying The Body Shop, spread the word. Every good word helps get eyes on the page. Sometimes, every bad word, too.

Everyone have a good week!
